In this course, you are going to learn a lot about computer programming, but we want you to pause for a moment to think about how certain skills might serve you in your future career. As you saw in Module 0, computer science is changing everything. People often limit computer science to only being about programming; however, there is so much more to this field.
You may decide to take a job as a programmer, but, regardless of your career choice, the types of problem-solving and thinking skills you learn in this course will serve you well no matter what you want to do. As more and more jobs integrate technology, a basic understanding of computer science and programming is essential. Use this assignment as an opportunity to explore CS careers that are of interest to you, and hopefully, you will quickly see just how much more there is to computer science.
For this assignment, you will research careers in computer science.
Using the resources linked at the bottom of this assignment, or those provided by your on-site teacher, explore 3 to 5 careers available in computer science.
Then, choose 1 of those careers to research more in-depth.
As you research, you will need to document your findings using the Research Careers in Computing handout
*Note: You will need to document where you find your information, so do not forget to use the sources section of the handout to keep track of the websites you have visited.
