Portfolio Contribution

In Module 0, you learned that a major course grade will come from a portfolio of your work. You are expected to make a contribution to your portfolio which demonstrates mastery of one or more of the key learning objectives from the module.

While the format of your portfolio is flexible (slide deck, website, video, document), each entry in your portfolio is expected to have the following components:

• A Learning Objective -- this is one of the statements from the Module Overview page which relates to what you learned in the module. An example is, "CSPG.Y1.5.1    Design and implement level-appropriate algorithms that use iteration, selection, and sequence"
  
  

• An Artifact -- this is a "thing" you created which demonstrates your mastery of the learning objective. An example for this module is your revised password algorithm document.
  
  

• A Statement -- this is a paragraph in which you describe 1) what the artifact is and 2) how the artifact shows your mastery of the identified learning objective. An example is, "The artifact shows an algorithm I created to generate passwords based on web site names. My algorithm demonstrates mastery of iteration where it rotates the letters in the password around until we reach the first vowel (ex: acebookF). My algorithm demonstrates mastery of selection because it uses decision-making (if the site begins with a vowel or if the site name contains no vowels, rotate 3 times). My algorithm demonstrates sequence because the order of the steps matter."

Did you create any artifacts which demonstrate mastery of this objective? Can you articulate in writing what the artifact is and how the artifact can serve as documentation of your mastery?

Submit a draft portfolio entry -- this is your first one, so we understand that it can be confusing or overwhelming.

For your first entry, we recommend you submit a simple document created in a word processor. Ensure it contains the three elements bulleted above. Review the rubric to ensure you will earn full credit on this assignment. Your on-site teacher will give you feedback on your contribution, which you should consider when you assemble your full portfolio for quarterly evaluation.
